InsurancePen has set Monday, November 11, 2009 for our official launch.
We hope to bring many customers to the website for the simple purpose of grouping together to buy insurance for better prices and terms than individuals are offered.
One of our initial customers, and big fans said we should tell people the website was set up to "let little people gang up on insurance companies!"
The real purpose will be to focus on launching and bringing in some of the groups that need the most help. The first group we will be promoting is for cities, schools, counties and other governments in Michigan for their health insurance.
The governments in Michigan haven't had a lot of selection for their health insurance and business insurance over the past twenty years and every one of them has been hit by declining revenues. We hope to help them "gang up" together so they can leverage their buying power and attract in some new competitors for their business.
The issue has become quite big in Michigan, and studies have identified savings in the hundreds of millions of dollars if the governments can invite in competition and pursue more efficient health insurance plans.
InsurancePen hopes to be the answer to what would otherwise be an extremely challenging proposition. InsurancePen is partnering with the Hylant Group to market and service the health insurance plan. The Hylant Group is the seventh largest privately held insurance brokerage in America, and has the resources and relationships with insurance carriers the governmental agencies need to be successful.
The launch and our first project is sure to keep us busy- but look for updates and new group announcements soon. Our plan is to launch groups for each segment of business insurance in Michigan and to expand our offering from there.
